The bike path realignment could cause some serious safety issues between people walking toward beach and bikers going too fast through the site.

43:57
Susan is correct.

44:12
There is a separate alignment along the highway for through-bikers

44:56
Alternative 2 bike path alignment looks better to me.

45:44
please make sure to mute your microphone if you are not speaking. Thanks

48:15
bike path should not go through the resort, should possibly include spurs that dead end at beach area to avoid bike/pedestrian conflicts, injury.

01:07:10
Does the scenic quality include looking at all the boats that will be at the pier? How will that boat activity alter the safety of non-motorized use of the bay and swim area?

01:10:47
What have boaters done since the marina and ramp have been closed? Has there been a study to determine if there is in fact any impact limiting boating?

01:16:38
Will the DEIS/R examine the demand for non-motorized vs. motorized by # of people who desire each?

01:18:06
This may be for post-break discussion item, but what is the opportunity to mix/match features in the current alternatives before a preferred alternative is selected?

01:44:48
all the cabins at the resort have multiple deferred maint. issues. Moving them seems like an environmental nightmare.

01:46:24
Is it a tear down and replace or is it pick up and move?

01:47:17
Tearing them down would cost the resort bottom line quite a bit. New cabins: same environmental issues?

01:49:42
When we build new we can use new technologies with updated utilities, which allows us to build with a lot lower environmental impact. The cabins being located across the roadway and out of the shorezone would eliminate most of the existing environmental damage being done by the cabins

01:50:19
New cabins equal higher costs to rent?

01:51:17
The permit structure does not include a typical "rental fee", it is based on revenue

01:51:54
Try to keep some open space throughout the area. Don't try to fill everything in with more camping or parking.

01:51:55
It is already expensive except in the off season. Would it get more expensive?

01:53:43
Fees would depend on the amenities provided and the local market demand; we would not have that information until the design for the cabins is finalized

01:58:03
The north beach is much more accessible with parking at beach and already a walkway to water.

02:09:30
There are currently rental Kayaks on the South Beach at Meeks. This takes up about 75 feet of the beach and is a bright yellow eyesore as they are there 24/7.

02:12:46
Yes, we would be interested in long term paddlecraft storage.

02:13:00
I think my sister would like to have long term storage for kayaks.

02:13:09
Long term paddle craft storage for local homeowners should not take precedent over campers/day users/resort renters.

02:13:53
I am not interested in having long term paddle craft storage, this is not necessary.

02:14:04
We would definitely be interested in long term paddle-craft storage. Should be annual passholders and even with a cost to have storage space.

02:15:53
The idea of a through route (follow the highway) and a business route (meander through the resort) appeals to me. The real issue is the southern exit.

02:16:28
I think this should have been two questions. Support Expansion? Support reconfiguration?

02:17:33
(reprise) Try to keep some open space throughout the area. Don't try to fill everything in with more camping or parking.

02:18:44
I agree with Kirk

02:19:02
Thank you Kirk

02:20:04
The parking lot is not an issue and it actually provides a nice break between beach and campground without cars even visible. The traffic and noise will increase dramatically and create problems for campers if you move the day use parking. Leave parking as it is, and where it is.

02:28:48
Some of the amenities already exist.

02:30:35
Just an FYI for the group, many of these amenities would not require a NEPA analysis to install. Large items such as showers and bathrooms would require NEPA. Things like picnic tables, trash cans, etc. are site amenities that we add and remove as needed for the site. I bring this up because you will most likely see a list of typical items that might be at the day use area, and we would highlight any that are not typical

02:31:00
in the draft document that will be released

02:32:26
I'm here Rebecca. :)

02:33:13
I think you have it there.

02:33:43
Interpretive signage great idea and should include Washoe History, Resort History, and environmental. Maybe instead of a bike path it is a trail for interpretive education and all walking.

02:33:56
nothing is every totally UV resistant, but we try to get high quality signs when we install them

02:35:08
No boat acessible bar!!!

02:35:16
related to any restrictions on boaters, there are universal rules for the lake that we cannot change

02:35:32
such as the distance from shoreline they can go

02:35:36
Rules are only as good as enforcement is applied. Otherwise they are useless.

02:37:16
Load music and massive shade structures are really unpleasant for other visitors. Maybe delineate a "pop up zone" 30' behind the surf line.

02:37:35
Loud

02:44:11
Is Rebecca with TRPA?

02:44:50
Yes, Rebecca is with TRPA

02:48:32
Just a note, the July Governing Board meeting will be held on Thursday, 7/29. Typically the meetings are on Wednesday, but we have a board retreat the Wednesday before the meeting.

02:49:28
Meeting materials will be posted here by the end of the day: https://www.trpa.gov/meeting-materials/

02:51:01
Meeks Bay was featured in the newspaper Tahoe In Depth. If you haven't read the article https://www.trpa.gov/tahoe-in-depth/

02:51:16
Could we meet in person for the next Forum Meeting? am still trying to understand if Boaters have the whole lake and they want to be on the water, what is the purpose of a pier in Meeks Bay? Meeks is already at capacity from land and boaters have access to other lake areas. There has been no discussion on how many boats the pier would serve, is it overnight mooring, how long could they be there? Frankly the motorized activity was added in without any information or input from the forum or public on the intended use of the pier. I think this remains a huge issue.
