Julie is absolutely on point. We have had several homes change hands to Tech people from Bay area this year specifically due to Covid. Years ago we were worried about the increase in AirBNB rentals around Meeks Bay. Now it looks like an increase in homeownership - which is a surprising benefit from Cvirus.

How come you're concerned about cost feasibility for a marina and not other parts of this so called restoration?
Kirk Robinson
59:34
Would the fire district be paying a significant portion of the cost of the pier (and its maintenance) if used for a fire boat?

Are there other locations around the lake that are dedicated to non-motorized water recreation?

Re: Theme 3 - non-motorized launch ramp
Courtney Rowe, State Parks
01:19:58
we have non motorized launch at TSRA
Judith Tornese, Friends of the West Shore
01:22:14
Why is it needed & where? Current system works well. Ramp could reduce beach area, cause beach and launch back-up congestion in the ramp area, need north & south ramps, how obtrusive?
Jan Brisco Tahoe Lakefront Owners' Assn

To get to Jim's point about the marina - is it possible as part of the analysis, a modified or partial marina would be a mitigated alternative?
Daret Kehlet

Store non motorized craft? Very unsightly.

Why has there been no mention of an environmentally friendly marina?

TRPA has expressed to private pier owners (us) that they do not want and will not permit racking for canoes, paddleboards and other storage visible at the waterline. Is this not true for this project but only for individual homeowners?
Julie Hutchinson
01:34:43
We DO NOT want to be compared to Kings Beach nor become Kings Beach.

It would be helpful if we could get the Purpose and Need for the project again so we have it as a reference?
Bill Anson - Woodland Pier Group
02:43:44
It was difficult as we did not know the size of the Pedestrian pier. Getting designs would be helpful.

How many people of the planning process have actually been to Meeks Bay and walked around?
Susan Jamerson
02:55:01
There were at least 60 people at the very first public tour related to the marina idea. A number of the people I see on these web based discussions were on that tour.
Julie Hutchinson
02:56:50
Yes a understanding of Meeks Bay Fire Department role, responsibilities and funding would be very beneficial.
Austin McInerny
02:58:57
We will work with Steve McNamara to find a date/time to discuss the Meeks Bay Fire Dept roles, responsibilities, etc. I will get an email out with next steps on this this week.
